AnimaNaturalis accuses the bullfighting organizers of trying to mask a children's bullfighting act as if it were an exhibition of transhumance, where the participation of minors was previously encouraged from social networks.
Last Friday, August 26, we filed a complaint against the Nules City Council and the organizers of the transhumance exhibition that took place on August 22, for an alleged violation of Organic Law 8/2021 of June 4 , of protection integral to childhood and adolescence in the face of violence.
On the Peña El Bou Facebook page, the organizers of the event replied to a person who wondered if children could attend. The response of the rock was clear: “Yes, of course. It's actually made for kids". During the course of the exhibition, the organizers allowed dozens of small children to run in front, behind and along the sides of the calves.
In the wording of the complaint, they explain that this urban transhumance with exposure of bovine animals, as stated in the authorization granted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition, clearly put the integrity of minors at risk, "age clearly exceeding the authorization granted by the ministry, as it is finally a show with the participation of minors" .
However, from AnimaNaturalis they are not optimistic about the resolution of the legal complaint. "It is possible that at the moment there is a legal vacuum, since transhumance exhibitions are not regulated by any law, but neither can they be considered running of the bulls, since they do not use bullfighting bulls" , explains Aïda Gascón , director of AnimaNaturalis in Spain.“What is clear is that the bullfighting sector is organizing herding bulls displays where they encourage the participation of minors as a strategy to introduce minors to bullfighting festivals, to try to ensure the generational renewal of a tradition that loses public every year and more and more town halls stop organizing or allowing this type of activity within their municipalities”, she continues.
Complaint for the participation of minors in an embolado bull in Náquera
AnimaNaturalis has also filed a complaint with the Ministry of Justice, Interior and Public Administration of the Generalitat, for the participation of two minors in the bullfighting of Náquera, so that they are transferred from the actions carried out in the file that is instructed, as part interested.
Failure to comply with this prohibition is a serious offense that carries penalties of between 600 and 30,000 euros, in addition to disqualification from organizing or promoting public shows, recreational activities or socio-cultural activities for a maximum period of six months.
