Last Tuesday, November 15, we filed a complaint against the Territorial Delegate of the Government of Castilla y León in Soria, against the Medinaceli City Council and against the organizers of the event called Toro Jubilo de Medinaceli that took place last Saturday, November 12 in that town, for violation of Decree 14/1999, of February 8, which approves the Regulation of Popular Bullfighting Shows of the Community of Castilla y León.
We denounce that, despite the fact that said Regulation prohibits wounding, pricking, hitting, holding or treating cattle in any other cruel way, the animal has already left the crate with blood in its mouth and very dazed.
“This edition of the Jubilee Bull should not have been held. The animal was already injured in the square and at that moment the event should have been cancelled. Said animal was not in a condition to bear what was about to happen”, alleges Cristina Ibáñez, an AnimaNaturalis lawyer.
In addition, and despite the fact that the show does not contemplate the death of the animal, it ended up dying after trying for 12 minutes to put out the fireballs from its horns. That is why we have requested the veterinary report under Law 19/2013, of December 9, on transparency, access to public information and good governance.
"We are going to get to the bottom of the matter and we will assess with that veterinary report if we take more forceful legal measures", adds Ibáñez.
